Just 20 miles east of Austin, this park is situated at the banks of the Colorado River in the town of Webberville. Offering various activities, the park is quite popular amongst the boaters, anglers, and picnickers; it also offers a boat ramp, a playscape, and picnic tables. Little Webberville Park has become a popular destination for canoeists and kayakers who explore the Colorado River Trail.

One of the great rivers of Texas, it is quite popular for the outdoor activities especially excellent for canoeing, kayaking, tubing and fishing. The Guadalupe Canoe Livery, provides numerous canoe, raft, kayak and tube trips on the picturesque Upper Guadalupe River above Canyon Lake from FM 3351 (Bergheim) to Rebecca Creek Road. Stretching for 23 miles the river has number of Class I, II rapids, and scenic waterfalls. Quite good for canoeing and kayaking the Upper Guadalupe is about 15 degrees warmer than the Lower Guadalupe that receives water from dam release at Canyon Lake.

ALIBATES FLINT QUARRIES :
Lake Meredith , that was created by Sanford Dam on the Canadian River is surrounded by the picturesque scenery. Lying on the dry and windswept High Plains of the Texas Panhandle in a region known as Llano Estacado, or Staked Plain is a great place to camp. One gets to camp in the mesquite, prickly pear, yucca, and grasses of arid plains. Above are the sheltered creek beds stand cottonwoods, soapberry, and sandbar willows. Lake Meredith is also a popular joint for thes water recreation area.

BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK :
Situated in the land of borders on the boundary with Mexico along the Rio Grande, this is another great camping ground. The melting pot of various cultures it combines the natural environments right from desert to mountains. You can find a great diversity of plants and animals here. It homes around 1200 species of plants (including approximately 60 cacti species and boasts of some of the rarest of the rare species of birds, bats, and cacti than any other national park in the United States. Covering a vast area in the west Texas in the place where the Rio Grande makes a sharp turn - the Big Bend. The park was authorized June 20, 1935; and established in June 12, 1944.

LYNDON B JOHNSON NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK :
Camping in this park is great idea especially for the kids and the history enthusiasts. Lyndon B Johnson National Historical Park narrates the story of Lyndon B. Johnson 36th President in quite an interesting manner. Going back to the roots, the park traces th Lyndon Johnson's ancestors, and influences his family and his beloved Texas Hill Country had on him since his childhood. Also visit the cattle ranch, preserved in the late 1960s time period. If you are looking for serenity and beauty both then this is the place to be.

Located below the dam at Lake Diversion just a few miles north of the small town of Dundee Fish Hatchery was established in 1927. It originally consisted of 44 ponds (32.9 surface acres of water) and seven buildings of native sandstone, which included a fish holding house, three residences, an office, a workshop, and a storage room.
Later of course the hatchery expanded that contains a laboratory, a workshop, and offices.
There is also a facility that was added which was used mainly for spawning of striped bass brood fish that are collected every year in the stilling basins of lakes such as Granbury, Livingston, Buchanan, and Texoma. Currently the largest facility in Texas it is a great place for fresh water fishing.

TEXAS FRESHWATER FISHERIES CENTER :
Quite an innovative aquatic nature center, the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center is operated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Located just four miles east of Athens, Texas it was open since November 1996. The center offers something interesting for everyone whoever has been fascinated by water and the plants and animals that make up the aquatic world. There is a wide range of marine life that lives in the rivers and reservoirs of Texas. Completely bursting with information, enjoy the beauty of the aquatic ecosystems located across the Lone Star State. The aquatic life here includes little fish, too, and alligators, birds, amphibians, and more. The center provides fishing here and encourages visitors to take advantage of the 1.2-acre fishing pond, stocked with channel catfish in summer and rainbow trout in the winter.

GALVESTON ISLAND STATE PARK :
Situated in the City of Galveston on the west end of Galveston Island the park spreads across 2,013.1-acre site that was acquired in 1969 from private owners under the State Parks Bond Program and was opened in 1975. Believed to be 5000 years old the park offers camping, birdwatching, nature study, hiking, mountain bike riding, fishing, and unsupervised beach swimming. GOOSE ISLAND STATE PARK :
Spread across 321.4 acres, surrounded by the St. Charles and Aransas Bays, is located north of Rockport in Aransas County. located on Aransas Bay, there is no swimming here but the shoreline is consists of concrete bulkhead, oyster shell, mud flat, and marsh grass. The main recreational activities are camping, fishing, and excellent birding. Other activities include picnicking, boating (motors allowed), nature study, wildlife observation, and photography.
